Summary:
Alcohol is a Common Precursor to
Teen Girls’ Participation in Sex Parties
Girls report that alcohol use and
hook-ups are common at sex parties. Parties allow for sexual
experimentation without the social expectations of dating
relationships.1

Interviews with
22 teen girls revealed the phenomenon of sex parties. Among
those who participate in such parties, alcohol consumption is
prevalent. The parties provide opportunities for sexual
experimentation, sometimes including vaginal intercourse,
exclusive of traditional dating relationships. Girls do not
report any coerced sexual activity, but some experienced regret.
